Boarding is offered as a service to patients of Eastside Veterinary Associates who have a valid veterinary-client-patient relationship within the past 12 months. Click here to learn more about our boarding facility.

If your pet has had these requirements updated at another hospital, please have the other veterinary hospital e-mail the written medical record to newcastleinfo@eastsidevet.com  at least 1 week prior to check in. Receipts are not accepted as proof of treatment. If the requirements are not met by the time of check in, we can update the requirements during boarding if time allows at standard costs, or your pet may not be able to board despite having reservations.

Vaccinations up-to-date:
Dogs: Bordetella, DA2PP, and Rabies
Cats: FVRCP and Rabies

Vaccines must be administered and documented in writing by a veterinary professional via written medical record.

*There may be exceptions to current vaccinations for health reasons including our patients with immune-mediated diseases and those undergoing chemotherapy. Exceptions will be determined at the veterinarians’ written discretion.

Fecal analysis and parasite prevention:
Boarding pets must have a negative fecal or be under appropriate treatment if fecal is positive. If on monthly intestinal parasite preventative, fecal checks are required once a year. If the pet is not on an intestinal parasite preventative, fecal checks are required every 3 months.

Medical records are required for documentation that the monthly intestinal parasite was prescribed and dispensed by a veterinarian, and patient must be on the medication monthly. Acceptable monthly intestinal and flea preventatiaves are: Sentinel, Trifexis, and Revolution. Heartgard plus with Nexgard, Bravecto, Simparica, or Credelio are also acceptable.

No flea or flea dirt can be present. If flea or flea dirt in seen on check-in, medication will be provided at cost of the owner.

Food:
We recommend bringing your pets regular diet to prevent food changes and gastrointestinal upset. If food is not provided or they run out while boarding with us, we have an easily digestible gastrointestinal dry food.

If you pet’s regular diet is something other than kibble or canned food, there will be a special handling fee of $5 per meal (e.g. fresh, frozen, home cooked, air dried)  to $10 per meal (raw diets) for the additional work required to refrigerate, freeze, defrost, heat up, sanitize surfaces, gloves, disinfecting bowls, and clean up.

Bedding/toys:
All kennels have a comfortable raised bed and water dishes at all times. Unfortunately, we cannot accept any toys, clothing or bedding from home. We do have blankets, towels, and toys that can be sanitized. If your pet attempts to eat bedding or toys, these amenities may be removed for safety.
